Adoptable Dogs.
Maddie 3 Years - My goodness this baby needed our help… Our safe haven manager told us about this dog living on the streets in China. She was filthy, looked like she was unable to walk and in dire need of help. Our manager asked the people in the town what happened to her and it turns out she was dumped by a breeder because she wasn’t selling. A lady took her in but had no money to feed or take care of her. So this tiny baby would just sit on the streets. We unfortunately get messages like this all the time and weren’t sure if we were going to help (as awful as that sounds.) We know taking more dogs into our care in China bleeds us dry as a rescue… But seeing how tiny and sick she looked, we couldn’t take it any longer and asked our manager to get her to our shelter. We took Maddie to our vet today and she has a multitude of issues. She has grade 4 Bilateral patella dislocation on top of deformations of the tibia and femur. Maddie is only 3 years old and only 3.8lbs…. The tiniest poodle we have seen. Our vet is saying she will need surgery but the chance of correcting this and her waking perfectly normal again is 50%. It varies from animal to animal unfortunately. Regardless of that, they said that it will certainly improve her quality of life & reduce pain immensely. Our #1 goal right now is to make sure she’s not in any major pain, so we have asked the vets to give her pain medication in the meantime. Here is where rescue gets so difficult…. The vets are quoting us 35,000 RMB or $5,221.54 for the surgery… And as you can imagine, we don’t have that as a tiny rescue. We pulled together to raise the money and Maddie had surgery! It is showing very successful and we’ve been paying for therapy every day. Maddie is now ready to find her forever home in the UK! Please apply if you want to give Maddie a second chance at love.
